Dr. Alexandros Karentzos

Dr. Alexandros Karentzos is a general and visceral surgeon with extensive international training and clinical experience across Greece, France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. His practice combines broad surgical expertise with a personalized approach, placing particular emphasis on precision, clear communication, and continuity of care.

He obtained his specialist accreditation in General Surgery in Greece in 2014, following part of his surgical training in Colmar and Strasbourg, France. He subsequently pursued advanced post-specialist training in the United Kingdom at the Royal Free London and Imperial College NHS Trusts. In 2016, he moved to Geneva, where he continued his surgical career at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).

In 2020, Dr. Karentzos undertook a Royal College of Surgeons of England–accredited fellowship in Benign Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery at Torbay Hospital in the United Kingdom. This advanced training provided extensive experience in the management of benign conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, and diaphragm, as well as in laparoscopic exploration of the bile ducts.

He returned to Switzerland in 2021, working in the Department of Surgery at Fribourg Cantonal Hospital and in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Geneva University Hospitals. In May 2023, he established his private surgical practice in Geneva.

Alongside his clinical training, Dr. Karentzos holds an MSc in Medical Research Methodology. He remains committed to continuous professional development, regularly attending advanced surgical courses, workshops, and international congresses. This ongoing education allows him to remain up to date in regard to advances in modern surgery and to continually refine his technical skills.

Today, Dr. Karentzos offers patients the benefit of a broad international surgical experience, combining evidence-based practice with meticulous technique and individualized care. His goal is to provide clear, honest guidance and expert surgical management tailored to each patient's needs.
